Review: EOS Lip Balm

Ok, I admit it, this is a product that totally hooked me based upon the packaging alone. It's slick modern look and cool colors made me want one instantly.  EOS stands for Evolution of Smooth.  It is a lip balm that claims to make it's users smile by providing long lasting moisture. It is packed with Shea butter , Jojoba oil, and Vitamin E, and free from gluten, parabens, petrolatum, and phthalates.  They come in six flavors, summer fruit, lemon drop with SPF 15, strawberry sorbet, honeysuckle honeydew, medicated tangerine, and sweet mint. I picked up the summer fruit flavor and gave it a try. What I noticed was the lip balm was a lot wider than I expected. It definitely covered the top and bottom lips in one swipe, although two is better. Instantly, I noticed the moisture and pleasant fruity flavor. Then I thought this would be the perfect lip balm for little kids as well. They would love the fruity flavor and I know with my son, I would try to chase him around and could never get his lips covered well in the process. It would be perfect for those nasty windburned lips they get running around on the play yard. But being greedy I decided to keep my EOS and I have been using it a ton this week. I definitely notice a difference and my lips feel soft and smooth. I would recommend this product if you are in the market for a new balm, plus with the cool shape it makes a nice conversation piece.

The Wonder Product by Weleda

So a while back I published a What's in your bag post with Cristina. One of her favorite items, Weleda skin food, was listed in the post. Being new to the Weleda line I was intrigued. But not having been to my local Whole Foods in a while threw me off track from picking up the product. That was until a couple of days ago when I read an article praising the multi functional skin food. I knew that I needed to check this product out and see what it was all about and I am happy to say there is much ado about something! This stuff is heaven. There is one caveat though, and that is the aroma. It has a very distinct herbal aroma that could be offensive to some. I love it, to me, it smells like a field of wildflowers and herbs. If you can deal with Calendula and Rosemary it isn't that bad. The aroma dissipates and you are left with soft supple skin. I have been told that standard operating procedure usage with this cream is dry hands, elbows and feet. But it appears users tout it can do so much more. You can mix it with pigments as a highlighter, it can act as your facial moisturizer, fine line corrector, wind burn or chapped lip saver and it makes ragged cuticles and nails look like new. Skin food contains no synthetic preservatives, fragrances or chemicals. It is all natural and Made in Germany. The product is super thick so a little goes a long way. Be sure if you are applying it to your face to use it sparingly and blend very well. It is sold at Whole Foods and online at Drugstore.com. If you go to Whole Food they have a tester and you can check it out. It is currently on sale for under $10.00, for a 2.5 oz tube.  It is a tad on the pricey side but for all the ways you can use it, it sure redeems itself.  Check it out and tell me what you think.

Hold It! All your Loot, that is....

Fining the perfect cosmetic bag can sometimes be a chore. Some are too small, some are too big. Often times you may find yourself saying the heck with it and just forgoing a cosmetic bag all together. Until you are scrounging around frantically in your purse for your lipstick or powder. I have found myself in the latter category for years until I found my perfect fit from Clinique. Now, I can happily get what I need at a moments notice. With summer approaching, many of us will be jetting off to weekend getaways and vacations. I put together a photo list of a few bags that might strike your fancy.

Polish Round up

I've been loving these shades inspired by the movie, The Hunger Games. Gorgeous rich colors! They are available now at beauty supply stores near you.

This Copper sparkly combo I found with a friend a few weeks back is my new go to color combo. It's currently available at Sephora. The base is Chestnuts About You and Traffic Stopper Copper. It is a sexy sparkly combo that gives me a pop of color without feeling too overdone.

Check out this upcoming launch for OPI, Spiderman themed polish. These colors will be released in May 2012 and until then we will be climbing the walls in anticipation.

IMATS Makeup Show

I'm super excited, I just purchased my ticket for the IMAT (International Make up Artist Trade Show), I can hardly wait to attend and see what is new and happening. I promise I will fill you in on all the details.  In fact I was thrilled to find out that the queen of beauty blogging, Kandee Johnson, will be attending as a speaker this year! So much to see and only two days to see it all.
